The Internship Journal: Day Three
Having freedom of design made me feel trapped.
Ironic?
Having freedom of design made me feel trapped. Ironic?
Let’s get into it: I focused on the main elements in the lobby, a water feature and a chandelier. I had freedom in either sketching the design of the water feature myself or find something online to propose. Immediately I started sketching what I envisioned in the space and started scouring the internet for something remotely close to what I had in mind. Hours of research and photoshopping later, I had added to the mood board the idea in mind, hoping the client will understand where I’m coming from. The chandelier I found that slightly resembled my sketch was actually one I had completely flipped - so it does exist but we will have to customize it. As for the water feature, Blaz and I decided to show the client the proposal and get their opinion if they’d like us to customize the organic structure or simply harvest it from nature (it was a rock). Then I had to follow the same steps as yesterday, I contacted and found suppliers for both features and added the specifications to the sheet I had created and sent them over to Blaz.
